Why Did I Start Inspirant Group?

What makes an executive with a stable job and decent pay quit that job, give up that stability, and start a consulting firm?

As an industry executive, I was frustrated with the rising costs of consulting services and the lack of value being delivered. Every project was being sold by the “A” team, while the delivery team was a set of junior resources billing at hundreds of dollars an hour, often with one manager overseeing multiple projects. There was no real value being delivered. This really solidified the perception that consultants ask you what you want, and then create pretty decks to read you back the same information. The one size fits all model offered by the traditional consulting firms no longer works. Busy executives deserve scalable and sustainable solutions that are developed and delivered by the same experienced team who sold them on the plan.

I started Inspirant Group for the frustrated, busy, yet savvy executive who wants to partner with a team of people who have walked in their shoes – people who want to do things better. For the executive who has already recognized the need to transform their business and are looking for seasoned advisors to help them map the journey and stick with them to the end.

As a seasoned consultant, I was frustrated with jumping from contract to contract. I was also frustrated with seeing the compensation structure channel all the money to the top while the boots on the ground were left with scraps. I started Inspirant Group to allow our team – both full time employees and project-based contractors – to feel that they are in control of their careers. I want them to know that they can accomplish what they want, and that we will give them the resources to do so. While this is good for our team, it also benefits our clients. All of our resources have a stake in the game. They know they aren’t just a warm body there to fill a role and bill the client. In turn, this isn’t just a job or just another project to them. They are creating their own opportunities, their own flexibility and compensation, and are there to build long-term partnerships.

We don’t look at things as one project or a certain duration. Rather, we ask how can we truly add value in the long run. We will turn down work if it doesn’t fit in to our vision or don’t have the staff. (We actually have done this on more than one occasion.) This is another way we want to disrupt the status quo: our competitors will sell the work and then try to find the staff just to get the money. Inspirant Group will ensure that we have the right staff and resource skill sets before saying yes to any work.

“I started Inspirant Group for the frustrated, busy, yet savvy executive who wants to partner with a team of people who have walked in their shoes – people who want to do things better… I have sat on both sides of the desk long enough to know that things need to change.”

I have sat on both sides of the desk long enough to know that things need to change. Clients deserve better rates and quality of work from their consultant partners. Consultants deserve to feel part of a team and not just another warm body. Inspirant Group is striving to be different, by inspiring people and organizations to seek their full potential and helping them to make it a reality.

Among leaders who recognize a need to transform their organization, Inspirant Group delivers maximum value from day one because the firm is built from the ground up to do just that – employing only seasoned resources, maintaining a flat structure to remain agile and cost effective, and committing to integrity in all client interactions. I have seen this vision come to life this year, and I am inspired to see what’s next.
